After your high-caloric holiday eating sprees, you may feel like you’ve finally lost the battle of the flab. Fortunately, with the New Year comes the promise of new beginnings. If you believe in keeping your resolutions, you might want to begin with getting back into shape. And there are great ways to do it the green way:
Combine workouts with post-holiday chores. You can get things back on track while exercising at the same time. Jog or walk when you need to pay bills, buy stuff or run errands. Start riding your bike instead of driving when going to work. When cleaning your house, get down on all fours and start scrubbing the floor instead of using electronic cleaning equipment. Turn on the radio and dance while mopping the floor or wiping the table! And remember to use only safe, organic and natural cleaning solutions like those from BabyGanics.
Get a move on it…outdoors. Instead of spending a fortune on expensive exercise machines, why not get outside and enjoy intense cardio workout by biking, jogging or jumping rope?
Find a workout buddy. Exercising with a friend will make it easier for you to do your workouts. You’re more likely to quit on your goal to lose the extra flab if there’s nobody to encourage you every time.
Join sports activities that support environmental causes. Join group races, marathons, and sports clinics with environmental initiatives. Imagine how great you’ll feel if you can get back into shape and save dolphins or rainforests at the same time.
Enroll in a gym or join a sports group. One way to save money on equipment and help reduce the number of exercise equipment being manufactured and sold is to enroll in a gym program or join groups of your favorite sport. These groups are likely to have facilities with their own equipment already, and some of their machinery even may even use human energy to power their facilities’ electricity needs!
Choose green workout gear. When buying or choosing your gear, make sure to always look for the best green options. Buy used products or choose those that were manufactured in an environment-friendly or sustainable manner. Choose non-PVC items, non-toxic water jugs, sportswear and towels made of organic fabric and running or training shoes made of recycled rubber.
Invest in a natural diet. Forget granola bars full of sugar, preservatives and artificial food coloring. Energize by eating organic foods that are rich in fiber, protein, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. Prior to your workout, pep up your energy level by eating a whole wheat bread and drinking a fresh glass of fruit-and-veggie smoothie.
