Fruits are known for being nutrient power-packs. Fruits contain a wide range of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients which are essential for a healthy lifestyle. And while our doctors usually tell us to eat several servings of fruits and vegetables every day, many of us are unable to follow this advice because of our extremely busy lifestyles. So what’s the best alternative to eating fruits whole? Mix them all up in a blender and turn them into smoothie of course! It’s the best organic and natural booster you can have everyday.
Fruit smoothies are rich in vitamins and minerals. Aside from nutritional supplements, you can provide your body its daily needs of vitamins and minerals by drinking a smoothie instead. Oranges and strawberries are rich in vitamin C while melons are rich in Vitamin A. Mangoes, bananas and peaches are a good source of potassium. Blueberries contain iron whereas raspberries is a source of B vitamins, folic acid, magnesium, copper and iron.
Fruit smoothies are rich in anti-oxidants. You can optimize the nutritional strength of your fruit smoothie by combining the power of several fruits. This way, you can maximize the amount of high-quality antioxidants that you can take in. Antioxidants are naturally-occurring substances in fruits that help protect the body from free-radicals, which speed up the degradation of cells. Antioxidants are believed to help prevent a host of diseases, including the dreaded cancer.
Fruit smoothies are rich in fiber. Fiber is necessary for healthy digestion and for the cleansing of the digestive system. Foods rich in fiber will also help you prevent from constant snacking because they absorb more water and help make you feel full for longer periods.
Fruit smoothies can be combined with other foods to make them healthier. Because fruit smoothies naturally taste good, they can mask the bland taste of other nutritious items you might want to include in the blender. For example, soya tofu is not that great tasting, but it is rich in protein, which is essential for body tissue regeneration and muscle formation. You can also add other nutritious stuff like a slice of tomato, stalk of broccoli and carrots for additional vegetable power. Wheat germ can also be added for a smidgen of essential minerals iron and zinc
Of course, it is best to consult your nutritionist or your doctor first to make sure that you are getting the right kind of nutrition from your smoothie recipes. In addition, you ca choose the organic variety of fruits over regular ones to make sure they are free from chemical contaminants like pesticides and fertilizers.

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis a few years ago. I considered what I had read about the so-called super fruit, the acai berry. I decided to blend some fruit for my wife and I. Strawberrys, blackberrys, blueberrys, raspberrys, mango, cranberrys, apple, and kiwi. I thin it with homemade apple cider so we don’t have to eat it with a spoon. After three days my colitis was gone and hasn’t came back. We feel alot better and decided that this habit would stay with us for the rest of our lives. First thing in the morning (after coffee) I fire up the blender and we toast to each others good health. Tastes great. My father said we could either spend the money buying fruit or give it to the doctors. I agreed. Try it, you’ll like it. Energy boost, also.
very informative.. thanks!
